Job Summary

This post involves supporting the Proteomics and Metabolomics Facility within the Institute of Clinical Sciences and MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences, specifically in LC-MS based metabolomics on Orbitrap systems. Our overall research aims to strengthen the basic science underpinning our understanding of human diseases and the translation of high-quality research into a clinical setting. The applicant will be working on two LC-MS orbitrap systems to quantify mostly small molecule metabolites by HILIC LC-MS. Experience in metabolic flux analysis is highly desirable. Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop metabolomic LC-MS workflows on Orbitrap systems
  • Maintain and operate mass spectrometry instrumentation (LC-MS and GC-MS)
  • Train researchers within the Institute to carry out independent metabolomic procedures

Essential requirements

  • You should have a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Sciences or a related discipline or related field, or equivalent vocational qualification and / or equivalent experience in laboratory management.
  • You should have proven experience in metabolomics applications and workflows, including sample preparation, data acquisition on Orbitrap systems and processing As well as Experience with processing metabolomics data using specialist software (vendor or open source). Experience in metabolic flux analysis is highly desirable.
