Position Overview

The University of Bristol is looking for enthusiastic individuals to fill the role of a Level 3 Research Technician within the Biomedical Sciences Building. This position, under the guidance of the Technical Manager, is crucial in providing essential technical assistance to faculty and students across three distinct schools: Physiology, Pharmacology & Neuroscience, and Biochemistry & Cellular Molecular Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering technical support for research initiatives across the three schools.
  • Maintaining laboratory facilities and managing supplies, including equipment and consumables.
  • Supporting academic and student research endeavors.
  • Working within a CL3 containment laboratory.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including maintenance and IT services.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations by maintaining up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assisting the Leading Research Technician and Technical Manager as needed.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Relevant technical experience or a background in a similar technical role.
  • Previous exposure to Biomedical Sciences or a comparable scientific setting.
  • A solid understanding of laboratory research challenges and considerations.
  • Experience in providing technical support at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety standards and safe working practices.
