Position Overview
Join our dedicated team of skilled technicians at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, where you will play a vital role in supporting groundbreaking projects in the field of Environmental Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with academic staff, researchers, and technical personnel to deliver expert technical assistance for the Environmental Engineering Laboratory.
- Ensure the upkeep and functionality of laboratory facilities and equipment.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to all laboratory users, facilitating effective research and teaching activities.
- Assist in the daily operations of the Environmental Engineering Laboratory, including potential work in other laboratories and UCL locations as needed.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a background in environmental engineering, ideally with a postgraduate qualification. A solid understanding of chemistry and biology, along with their practical applications in environmental research and education, is essential.
Experience in laboratory settings, coupled with the ability to design and set up custom small-scale experimental apparatus, is highly desirable. Familiarity with analytical techniques and material characterization methods is crucial, as is a comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to wet laboratories.
We seek individuals who can work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Proficiency in handling compressed gases, operating autoclaves, fume cupboards, bio-safety cabinets, and various microscopy techniques is advantageous. Experience in supporting undergraduate students during environmental laboratory sessions and in preparing necessary materials and equipment is also beneficial.
