Job Title: Mass Spectrometry Research Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mass Spectrometry Research Technician to join our team at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and practical support for our breath analysis laboratory, which is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments including cIMS-QToF-MS, GC-MS, and GC-IMS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain advanced analytical equipment, including LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and IMS.
  • Support research staff with experimental work and advanced analytical equipment needs.
  • Provide technical and general support in the lab to support research activities.
  • Lead/support with the design, construction, assembly, and installation of specialist equipment as appropriate.
  • Ensure laboratory stock levels are adequate for research purposes and order consumables.
  • Take a lead role with health and safety regulations and undertake risk and other assessments for laboratory processes.

We are looking for a candidate with a degree qualification in Chemistry and proven experience working in a Chemistry and Biology Research laboratory with standard chemistry techniques, including sample preparation, standard solutions, and equipment calibration.

The ideal candidate will have self-motivation, show initiative, and confidence in working to meet deadlines, as well as the ability to work both individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Working practical knowledge of microbiological techniques would be desirable.
