The role

The Centre for Public Health, based in Bristol Medical School, seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Public Mental Health, commencing September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. We are open to candidates with a background in any aspect of Public Mental Health but would be particularly keen to receive applications from candidates with expertise in quantitative methods for studying Public Mental Health. The post is initially available with funding (100%) for 2 years. We currently have 60% funding secured for a further 3 years. We will support the candidate to apply for additional funding.

Interviews are expected in early September 2024.

The role

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will provide teaching and assessment (plus the related administration) on Public Mental Health on the undergraduate MBChB Medicine and the MSc in Public Health.

The successful candidate will produce their own research, in line with the research strategy of the Centre for Public Health with a focus on Public Mental Health. This will include grant capture and the production of papers published in high quality journals, as well as supporting collaborative research with immediate colleagues and those in the wider Faculty and beyond.

You should apply if

You should apply if you have a PhD in Public Health, Public Mental Health or a related discipline and a good knowledge of Public Mental Health and Health Improvement and the ability to teach, assess and research this discipline.

Additional information

Contract type: Open-ended with fixed funding until 31/08/2029 (funding for 100% time until 31/08/2026 and 60% time until 31/08/2029 currently).

Work pattern: Full-time/ 1.0 FTE (funding for 100% time until 31/08/2026 and 60% time until 31/08/2029 currently)

Shift pattern: 35 hours per week for full time
