The Role

The Risk Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining an effective non-financial risk management program by ensuring constant risk oversight for MGG. They are responsible for implementing a group-wide non-financial risk framework. This role involves reviewing and evaluating Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), supporting deep dive activities, and collaborating closely with business and corporate units across M&G and M&G Risk Functions in the UK and International offices. This position reports to the Head of Non-Financial Risk, Asset Management.Risk Oversight
  • Act as a trusted business partner, working closely with business and corporate units to apply enterprise-wide risk management tools for identifying, assessing, reporting, monitoring, and controlling risks.
  • Review events, Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), notifiable events, issues, etc., to identify potential thematic risks/issues and provide recommendations to address control weaknesses. Monitor the progress of enhanced controls.
  • Provide guidance on risk management matters for the launch of new products/services/markets and insourced/outsourced activities.
  • Participate in ad-hoc reviews and regulatory/supervisory examinations when necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with wider risk teams and risk functions in international offices to enhance communication with business and corporate units.
Knowledge/Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial services.
  • Working knowledge of asset management and financial products.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end risk and control frameworks for asset management businesses.
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal) across all organizational levels.
  • Effective stakeholder management at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented, results/task-oriented, with the ability to manage and prioritize efficiently even in conflicting situations.
  • Capable of working collaboratively in a team or autonomously and managing tasks across various geographies.
  • High level of computer literacy, especially in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with GRC tools is a plus.
