Lincolnshire County Council have an exciting opportunity to join the The Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project (LCSP) as a Northern Becks Officer on a 2 year Fixed Term Contract.

About the role

The Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project is a partnership project hosted by Lincolnshire County Council and the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service.

It is estimated that 85% of the global resource of chalk streams are found within England, with a large proportion located in the Northern Becks. These freshwater habitats support some of the UK's most threatened plant and animal species such as water vole and brown trout.

We are a small but growing staff unit supported by both governmental, non governmental and not for profit organisations with a real passion to achieve the best for our chalk stream in Lincolnshire.

You will support the work of the Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project Partnership and the Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) Chalk Streams Strategy and Implementation Plan. You will deliver the actions of the LCSP Strategic Action Plan and the Northern Becks Catchment Plan.

Alongside this will also provide additional support to the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service activities across the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (National Landscape) and the Greater Lincolnshire Nature Recovery Strategy.

About you

You should have detailed knowledge of the natural environment, supported by a degree in a related field or at least three years of relevant work experience. Additionally, you must demonstrate at least two years of experience in planning, designing, coordinating, and delivering riparian projects, with a strong commitment to partnership and community work.

Prior experience in practical land and in protected landscapes, is highly desirable. You should be experienced in working within a natural environment or ecological role, confident in collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, and skilled at building strong networks.

As an effective communicator, you'll work closely with partners, landowners, and communities, and be adept at presenting information to various audiences using multiple platforms. You should be data-driven and able to craft reports that clearly and concisely convey information.

Applicants must be able to move comfortably in various outdoor environments, as you will often find yourself walking across fields, uneven terrain, and hopping over fences and stiles. A sturdy pair of wellies will be essential

As you will be operating across Lincolnshire, you will need a full, valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.

Along with a competitive salary we are offering:

  • A Contributory pension
  • Comprehensive benefits package including excellent discount schemes and cycle to work
  • Flexible working policies
  • Career progression opportunities
  • A generous annual leave entitlement plus the option to buy more
