Location: This role can be based at our London office, or at any of our new regional offices in Sheffield, Edinburgh, Manchester or Bristol, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.
Play a pivotal role in the growth and development of the Short Books imprint as commissioning editor.

What you'll be doing
This is a broad remit across our non-illustrated Wellbeing titles, with a focus on day-to-day dealings with authors to structure and shape manuscripts, and outreach to find new and exciting authors in this space, whilst exploring new ideas with our existing authors. You will be an enthusiastic champion of your books from acquisition through to publication and beyond – collaborating closely with our design and commercial teams. You will have strong relationships within the industry and a track record of proactively seeking out and shaping new projects, both via literary agents and more widely. You will need to be an energetic self-starter, confident in leading meetings and bringing about positive outcomes from all conversations.We value imagination, ambition and collaboration, and are looking for somebody who is eager to seek out the best new creative talent for our list and to deliver exceptional editorial service. In particular, we are looking for someone with a passion across the breadth of health and wellbeing topics.Applicants should have excellent editorial skills and a keen interest in the health market. Proven success in acquiring and publishing in non-fiction is required. The successful application will be an experienced commissioning editor looking for a broader role or a new challenge, with a track record of seeking out and shaping new projects via agents and directly with talent.
