If so, then the Smart Energy Code Company (SECCo) would love to hear from youSmart Metering sits as a key enabler of a net-zero energy system and there has never been a more important time for ensuring that smart meters and the supporting Smart Energy Code (SEC) arrangements are fit for the future.

The parties to the SEC are at the forefront of developments that will allow energy consumers to make better use of their energy and reduce their energy bills, whilst ensuring more efficient use of the energy system and assets.

At the heart of decarbonising the UK economy, the energy sector is an exciting place to be SECCo is arguably one of the most important bodies in ensuring we achieve the UK's low-carbon goals.

The SECCo Board is working to increase the executive capacity of SECCo, introducing new roles to work alongside the existing SEC code administrator and together provide a better service to SEC Parties.

The Strategy Manager role is vital for the thorough analysis of the policy, regulatory and market changes and translating those changes into a coherent strategy for smart metering arrangements.

You will lead strategic analysis, strategy formulation and execution, working with a wide range of stakeholders in the smart metering, data and digital space.

This is a unique opportunity to lead strategic initiatives that will have a lasting impact on the GB energy sector and contribute to the UK's net zero ambitions.

SECCo is actively involved in major industry consultations such as Code Reform and the DCC Licence Review.

This role would allow you to leverage your experience in navigating complex policy landscapes and influence the direction of critical industry changes.

  • Research and strategic direction – Anticipating and analyzing emerging trends in policy, regulatory, and code landscapes to proactively adapt strategy and operations
  • Thought leadership on policy, regulatory and code change – Proactively formulating proposals on necessary change to advance smart metering arrangements
  • Proactive stakeholder engagement – Evolving company's stakeholder engagement strategy through cultivating productive partnerships and collaborations, building trust with SEC parties and stakeholders
  • Be a role model – Contributing to building company's culture and unique identity, embedding its values in everyday activities and initiatives.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A comprehensive grasp of the GB energy industry, energy-related policies, regulation, and codes, and the broader decarbonization agenda
  • Senior-level strategy development and planning expertise, with a knack for applying diverse strategic frameworks to address complex challenges across policy, regulatory and code landscape
  • Superior communication abilities, adept at translating complex ideas into clear, engaging narratives
  • Established ability to work with and influence Board and Exec-level leaders within and outside of an organisation; experience in effective engagement at multiple levels across an organizationForward-thinking mindset that encourages curiosity, thrives in ambiguous situations, and excels at navigating intricate challenges
