Cardiff Councils Allocations & Rehousing Unit are responsible for maintaining the Cardiff Housing Waiting List and Council Allocations. The service has expanded to include a new team to focus on providing specialist housing advice for:

  • All older people
  • Supporting people with disabilities to access adapted properties and,
  • Assisting older people to downsize to more appropriate accommodation.

The service currently has a vacancy for a Senior Rehousing Solutions Officer working 37 hours per week.

About the job

The post holder will be responsible for training and mentoring the Rehousing Solutions Officers.

The demands on the service and the priorities for the team are ever changing and the post holder will need to have the skills to manage change and problem solve.

Other duties will include providing detailed, bespoke advice to applicants; including during home visits, and carrying out non-complex medical assessments for applicants applying to the Housing Waiting List to ensure those with disabilities are rehoused into appropriate accommodation.

What We Are Looking For From You

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as a good level of IT/ Computer skills needed for this post.

Experience of mentoring other officers/ previous line-management would be an advantage, as would experience of working within a social housing setting and having extensive knowledge of the Common Housing Waiting List.

Undertaking home visits to applicants or contract holders will be an essential function of this role.

You will have good organisational skills, the ability to work to strict deadlines and being extremely flexible is vital for this role and the ability to work as part of a team is essential.
