Cardiff Youth Service are seeking to recruit a Welsh Language Youth Development Officer to lead, manage and develop our Welsh Language Youth Work model.

We are looking for a strength based professionally qualified and registered Youth Worker who is keen to be at the forefront of Welsh Language Youth Work practice.

We support the learning and development of individuals through leadership and management development opportunities whilst actively involving staff in learning, coaching and mentoring that enables the continuous professional development of the service.

Cardiff Youth Service are seeking to establish locality teams to support Welsh Language Youth Work within the communities of Cardiff. The new structure seeks to create a locality model that is built on partnership working and collaborative practice.

The Welsh Language Youth Development Officer will be required to offer support to Welsh essential Youth Support Workers, providing a working environment where the Welsh Language can flourish. These will include open access youth club sessions, street-based Youth Work sessions curriculum-based projects and programmes as well as targeted support for young people one to one.

The officer will be responsible for the development of Welsh Language Youth Work resources and will work closely with the Workforce Development Officer to develop a Welsh Language Youth Work training and development plan.

The co-ordination of Welsh Language Youth Work will be developed in a tri-lateral partnership with Urdd Gobaith and Menter Caerdydd. It is essential the post holder is able to collaboratively develop Youth Work strategies and plans to drive excellence through the medium of Welsh.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will have the passion and drive to delivering an excellent sustainable service to our young people, communities and wider service partners. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and managing teams and achieving outcomes for young people and communities. You will have the ability to manage budgets and add value by seeking additional support by partners and attracting investment through social value and external funding initiatives. You will have co-produced work with young people as well as developing a flexible approach to supporting young people's needs.

You will become part of the Youth Service management team and have an active role in improving collaborative working and developing a 21st century Youth Work workforce and constructing a new Youth Work strategy for Cardiff.
