The HR Service Centre delivers payroll, and related services, to the Council and to a range of external customers. It is a fast moving and high-volume service, with around 20,000 salaries processed each month. Central to the effective delivery of the service is the HR and Payroll system and the successful applicant, to this post, will join the small HR Technical Support and Management Information Team maintaining the system and supporting its users.

About the Role:

Initially you will spend time working with each of the team's three system specialists, also some time with the HR Systems and Processes Manager. Following on from this you will primarily work to support the Management Information Lead and will start to pick up the tasks set out in the supporting document. There will also be an expectation that you will assist the other HR Technical Support Officers with day to day scheduled tasks.

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience of working in a technical role, with a logical approach and an aptitude to understand and quickly become familiar with systems and system support tasks. You will need to be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of Excel, or a similar spreadsheet application, combined with a genuine interest and aptitude to working with IT systems. Similarly, experience of using an integrated HR and Payroll system, reporting software such as SAP Business Objects or a background working in a HR and Payroll service, would be advantageous but is not essential; you must have an eye for detail, be able to work accurately, and be able to communicate confidently with colleagues and customers.

Working Arrangements:

Staff in the HR Service Centre are currently working in a hybrid manner, working from home and also from our office at Riverside House in Rotherham.
