The project:

Join a significant defence capital investment programme in the UK. This role will require SC clearance. The opportunity is to work on a variety of projects across the full RIBA stages, ensuring relevant stakeholders and professional team members are engaged throughout, processes and timelines are agreed and communicated to ensure the successful project delivery. You will ensure the successful delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.You will be responsible for implementing appropriate programme delivery environments, including people, organisation, process, information and technologyYou will promote and influence quality and service excellence in all conversations and programme interactions.Accountable for the risk management performance on their assigned commission(s).Creates/designs effective risk management framework(s)/strategy(s) on assigned commission(s).Manages and directs clients, consultants, contractors, project team on assigned commission(s) on all risk management matters.Partners with clients meeting their expectations and building strong professional relationships.Provides expert advice and support to project/programme teams in the administration of the risk process, particularly with respect to the risks to achievement of key project objectives and escalation of risks.Facilitates and drives the delivery of risk workshops.Works with project managers to recognise opportunities and mitigations to minimise risk exposure.Accountable for ensuring risk mitigation action plans are developed, risk and action owners appointed and that project plans are updated accordingly and monitored.Comments on the adequacy of contingency as part of the regular reporting cycle as required.Develops and delivers monthly risk reports, externally to the client and internally to the project team.Ensures all activities/operations are carried out in line with Mace control centre, client requirements and prevailing legislation.Provides line management to more junior risk managers and other project/programme staff as required.Utilises expertise to mentor and assist the personal and career development of junior members of risk team.Leads the integration of risk with PMO and planning disciplines.Supports the HUB risk lead with resourcing and recruitment for the assigned commission. Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

You will have good understanding of construction projects, decencies, and interfaces within the project lifecycle.Deep domain knowledge of providing risk leadership in one or more sectors (e.g. defence, rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals.You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent working knowledge of current methodologies & tools related to managing projects (e.g. MS Excel, Risk Hive, PRA, ARM, Primavera P6).You are extremely collaborative, with ability to build excellent working relationships and have very high political sensitivity and ethics.Excellent attention to detail & able to validate & check risk management inputs, recording & reports produced, providing basic commentary & analysis.Able to persuade & influence clients, consultants, suppliers & colleagues.Defence sector experience. Experience of effective risk leadership on complex construction projects.Experience of setting up effective risk management/assurance frameworks/strategies.Comprehensive knowledge of risk tools, techniques, and software (e.g., Active Risk Manager, riskHive, @risk, Primavera Risk Analyser).Ability to manage activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome. Practical knowledge/application, and understanding of the opportunities related to risk/data analytics,Power BI and other reporting suite tools.Basic knowledge of tools, techniques and software that interfaces with the risk discipline (e.g., planning tools, Astra, P6,MS project). Good understanding of construction projects, decencies, and interfaces within the project lifecycleDeep domain knowledge of providing risk leadership in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals). Experience of working client side as well as consultancy.

You'll also have:

Fully qualified professional with considerable experience (with at least 5 years post professional qualification experience).You have a degree or equivalent with professional work experience in one or more specific disciplines in the construction, programme, project or commercial management disciplines. you have achieved or are working towards.Membership / Fellow / Certified Fellow status with one or more professional institutions.A valid security clearance or have no potential bars to you gaining clearance.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form effective working relationships.Ability to collaborate with and influence others.Proven ability to articulate complex information and ideas for a non-technical audience.Ability to work in a highly pressurised environment, managing multiple priorities.Manages, influences, and negotiates with senior stakeholders.Strong attention to detail and ability to 'deep dive' into topics.
