This is a Junior Clinical Fellow (ST1/2) to replace a current gap in service provision for six months, with possible extension to 1 year. The remit of the post holder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing care for women in Maternity & gynaecology. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department. The post-holder will be expected to take part equally with other trainee in such a rota with EWTD with retrospective cover.

The post will be based at the Denmark Hill site of Kings College Hospital and the proposed time table is attached. Some cross site working to encourage full integration of the departments may be required in the future. The On-Call commitment is for a 1:8 rota. As a junior employee of the Trust you will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients. Although the post is not recognised by the Royal College of Gynaecologist as training posts, they offer excellent educational opportunities and the successful applicant will be given the same educational opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for a Trust Junior Clinical Fellow post in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to be based at the Denmark Hill site of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to commence in August 2024 for a 6 month fixed term contract, which may be renewed.

This post will provide an ideal opportunity as an introduction to obstetrics and gynaecology. The post holder will be on-call (with ST3-5 and ST6-7) as part of the Junior O& G rota which is EWTD compliant and provides protected time for teaching.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Together with the others to provide Maternity & gynaecology services for women attending Kings College Hospital. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties required for the proper functioning of the department.

Shared responsibility with the others for providing 24 hour, 7 day a week cover for the obstetrics & gynaecology on an on-call rota basis. Responsible also for covering colleagues periods of annual leave and short-term sickness/absence.

To contribute to departmental audit programme in accordance with the Trusts R& D framework.

To be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training/updates in infection prevention and control.
