About Us

King's College London is a leading University with nine Faculties. As part of King's Health Partners, we have an excellent environment for health care interaction and a strong focus on mentoring and career development.

For the last six years, King's has been number 2 in the world and number 1 in Europe for Nursing (QS world rankings). The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.

Our award-winning NMPC education programmes span pre-registration nursing and midwifery, and multidisciplinary post-graduate taught and research programmes. King's is the largest provider of health care education in Europe. Our applied clinical and health research transforms therapies, the healthcare experience and outcomes for patients and those important to them, wherever they are cared for.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Diabetes Research Group at King's College London. In this role, the successful applicant will assist with two ongoing studies: the JDRF-funded MyREMEDY Clinical Trial and the NIHR-funded Pre-Pregnancy Care for Women with Type 2 Diabetes (PREPARED) Study. MyREMEDY is an international, multi-site study that aims to enhance the mental well-being of adults living with type 1 diabetes using an innovative new online programme called MyDiaMate. PREPARED is an integrated, primary care-based multi-method study located in South London that seeks to improve the pregnancy outcomes in women living with type 2 diabetes.

Both studies address critical but under-researched areas of diabetes care provision. In the UK, mental health resources currently available are not sufficient to address the burden of diabetes distress that often accompanies living with type 1 diabetes. Through MyREMEDY, we seek to provide an accessible, affordable, and personalised mental health resource to adults living with this long-term condition. Similarly, many women living with type 2 diabetes in the UK are not adequately prepared for pregnancy and are consequently at risk of serious adverse pregnancy outcomes. Through PREPARED, we seek to develop an integrated programme of interventions to improve both the uptake of pre-pregnancy care and the pregnancy outcomes of women living with type 2 diabetes.

The successful applicant will have interest and/or experience in diabetes research. This role is best suited to enthusiastic individuals who are adept at working both individually and collaboratively, and ideally have prior experience in participant recruitment for scientific studies and a strong skillset in quantitative data analysis. MyREMEDY responsibilities will involve leading participant recruitment in the UK, in addition to working closely with Dr. Kirsty Winkley, the UK MyREMEDY Chief Investigator based at King's College London, and the wider international study team located in the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain. Regular collaboration with the research assistants in other participating institutions outside of the UK is essential. Involvement in the PREPARED Study will centre around quantitative data analysis, preparation of research findings for publication, and close collaboration with the study's research team, including Dr. Angus Forbes and Dr. Judith Parsons. The successful applicant will join the Division for Care in Long Term Conditions in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King's College London.

This is a full time post for 4 months and then part-time (0.5 FTE) for 8 months, and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 12 months, dependent on your start date this could be up to 1st September 2025.

We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups including those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups, the LGBTQI+ community, those who are neurodiverse and those with a disability.

King's considers the professional and personal development of our staff a priority and we offer an inspiring range of opportunities for training and career progression. Our Organisational Development team provide in-house and bespoke learning.
