Cargilfield is a leading independent IAPS preparatory school in Edinburgh for boys and girls aged 3 to 13.


We are seeking to recruit a passionate and inspirational teacher of bagpipes to join our thriving music department starting from Monday 2nd September 2024.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching children aged 8-13 years old and be an enthusiastic and experienced teacher.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teacher of Bagpipes on a one to one and small group basis with pupils at all levels and stages from F4 to F8, motivating them to achieve the highest standards in playing of the bagpipes and chanter.
  • Monitor, assess, record and report on the work and progress of pupils. Provide written and verbal reports as required.
  • Leading groups of pupils in the School Pipe Band during rehearsals and performances in school and outwith.
  • Organise and run smaller group practices during breaktimes with a view to enhancing the children's learning experience.
Hours vary year-to-year, but approximately two days teaching ideally split over three days. Some flexibility as to teaching days is required in order to coordinate with our Pipe Drumming teacher.
