Our institution is a Gaelic-medium primary school dedicated to providing primary education and nursery services for children in the Edinburgh area. Our community is diverse, with families from various social and linguistic backgrounds. Many children begin their journey with us with limited or no knowledge of Gaelic, making it essential to foster Gaelic language skills through an immersive educational approach from nursery onward.
Currently, we have fifteen primary classes and a nursery class accommodating 40 children.
The leadership structure includes a Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, two Principal Teachers, and a Business Manager. We benefit from weekly visits by music instructors and have a robust support staff to cater to the needs of all learners. Our Parent Council plays an active role in the school's activities, and numerous parents and community members contribute as volunteers. We are building strong community connections, supported by Gaelic Development Officers.
We are looking for three Gaelic-speaking Early Childhood Educators to join our dedicated team on a permanent basis.
This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. The commencement of employment is contingent upon the satisfactory outcome of these pre-employment checks.
We are committed to fostering a workplace culture where all employees feel valued, included, and empowered to perform at their best. We recognize the advantages of a diverse workforce that brings varied values, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds to our organization.
To enhance our organizational culture and create an excellent working environment for the people of Edinburgh, we aim to attract the best candidates not only based on their skills and experience but also on their work approach.
To facilitate this, we are transitioning from a competency-based interview process to a behavioral and technical skills-based approach. This new interviewing method will enable us to evaluate how candidates think and how they embody our core values of Respect, Integrity, and Flexibility in their work practices.
