Teacher of the Deaf
Additional Support for Learning Service

Salary: £32, - £48,
Hours: 35 per week

Applications are invited from primary and secondary GTCS registered teachers. The successful applicant will provide support to deaf children and young people with complex additional support needs and will be involved in supporting schools, parents and other professionals to meet the needs of these children and young people, in inclusive settings.

Duties will include but are not limited to specialist assessments and interpretation of results, testing and monitoring hearing levels, provision of advice regarding acoustic environment, communication modes and use of amplification devices as well as direct teaching and enriched language input, working with partners and parents and delivering training. The successful applicant should be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf. The ability and willingness to advise on needs of learners who are deaf with additional complex needs is essential.

The Additional Support for Learning service is a peripatetic service and applicants must be willing to work anywhere in the city, and in any school, including specialist provisions.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
