We are looking for an intern with bilingual skills in British Sign Language (BSL) and English to support the work of the pioneering BSL Glossary project within the Scottish Sensory Centre at Moray House School of Education and Sport. This post is focusing on the current Eramus+ funded European Marine in Sign Language project (December 2023 - December 2026), which is collecting, creating and defining science terms in sign language, working closely with deaf scientists, linguists and teachers. The work will also involve the development of Chemistry in BSL box in partnership with colleagues from Sweden and the USA.

This post is part-time (25 hours per week), and we are open to considering flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combine a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

**The Opportunity**:
The intern will:

- Collect resources to support the sign development process
- Film and edit BSL videos for the BSL glossary website
- Producing translations of BSL definitions into plain English
- Upload videos to the BSL glossary app
- Work with Dr Audrey Cameron to organise dissemination events to launch the new marine glossary.
- Support the development of resources for primary schools working with deaf children - a chemistry box with accessible instructions in BSL and supporting materials for teachers in partnership with colleagues from Sweden and the USA. Carry out trials of the chemistry box with two schools based in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

It offers exclusive summer internships at the University over the summer for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK. **Your skills and attributes for success**:

- Fluent in BSL and written English
- A high standard of organisation skills and ability to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines
- Experience in communicating easily with a wide range of deaf BSL signers
- Strong IT skills in MS Office and editing video Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
