Key responsibilities include:
  • Contribute to the monitoring and assessment of relevant economic, financial, and political developments in the 180+ markets to which the Group has credit exposure.
  • Provide in-depth risk assessments which form the basis of internal credit ratings and proposed risk limits, which steer Swiss Re's credit risk management strategy.
  • Lead risk discussions with business partners and present to senior management.
  • Coordinate credit risk related activities across the Group, including Credit (Re)Insurance Underwriting, Asset Management, Treasury, Economic Research, Sustainability and Emerging Risk Management, Market Risk Management (MRM), and Financial Risk Reporting.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects such as scenario analyses and Group senior management reports.
  • Provide risk management input (depending on expertise) for negotiated conditions in structured transactions and other legal agreements (e.g., ISDA) involving financial sector businesses.
  • Contribute to the development of analytical and risk management tools in order to increase the value added and overall effectiveness and efficiency of the team.

    About the Team

Credit and political risks are prevalent across the Swiss Re Group activities, e.g., investment strategies of Asset Management; underwriting activities of Credit & Surety and Life & Health; and credit counterparty risks embedded in structured transactions and corporate finance activities (custodial, banking, and derivatives counterparties).

As part of CRM, the Banks, Country & Political Risk team identifies, measures, monitors and controls credit default and migration and political risks and ensures that company's credit and political risk profiles are clear to management and appropriate relative to our risk appetite. Team members are in New York, London, Zurich and Bangalore and work in a synchronized manner, often to meet established goals.
