Salary: £43,069

Contract type: Permanent

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy, and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

The Data for Science and Health (DSH) team is looking for a Project Officer to help manage the development and execution of projects related to digital technology which advance the strategies of Wellcome's Mental Health and / or Discovery Research strategies.

Science and health are increasingly computational disciplines: from new tools and methods in artificial intelligence, computational modelling and analysis, to policies and standards for data collection and sharing - the effective use of data and data science is central to the success of Wellcome's strategy.

We are looking for a Project Officer to join our team. You will be working with the DSH team and collaborating with our colleagues across Wellcome to implement a vision for the software and digital infrastructure needed to catalyse research in the field.

In this role you will:

  • Use best practice project management tools and techniques to support delivery of multiple projects in parallel, including development, management and closure of projects

  • Analyse and trouble shoot project challenges, identifying potential for optimisation and learning

  • Build external and internal relationships required for project delivery, including the sourcing and management of external resource and suppliers

  • Be the owner of the risk and control environment for your area and be accountable for the quality of you and your team's outputs

  • Contribute to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

To be successful in this role you will have:
    • Some familiarity with current state of and trends in digital technologies in science and health research and practice

    • Experience working in a project management environment and familiar with project management processes, practice and IT systems, and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances

    • Experienced in the use of project management tools and systems and an eye for detail

    • Effective communicator of data and information

    • Team player with ability to form effective relationships in and outside the immediate team

To apply please upload your current CV and complete our short application.

      Interview dates: w/c 19 August
