About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Science Leader to join our team at the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC). As a key member of our Evidence & Insight function, you will play a critical role in driving data-driven insights and decision-making to address crime, criminal justice, and policing challenges in London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of data scientists to drive data science strategy and innovation.
  • Develop and execute sophisticated analytical projects to inform policy decisions and improve policing outcomes.
  • Provide strategic leadership and expert guidance in specialized technical areas to drive innovation and ensure alignment with MOPAC's objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data science and analytics.

Requirements

  • Graduate and/or professional qualification in data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, social science, or related area.
  • Proven experience in leading or mentoring a team of data analysts or scientists.
  • Expertise in data science techniques and capabilities, including data mining, visualization, predictive analysis, statistics, time series, large language models, and geospatial analytics.
  • Proficiency in coding with SQL, DAX, M, Python, or R, with the ability to manipulate and analyze data efficiently.
