About the Programme/Department

The Development and Public Finance Programme conducts research, convenes stakeholders, and provides advice on how governments and their development partners can best use their scarce resources to support prosperous and fairer societies.

About the role

Strategy and Funding

  • Work with the Senior Research Fellow and the Hub's partners to continuously refine the strategy of the Digital Public Finance Hub.
  • Lead on developing research proposals, expressions of interest and full project proposals as and when appropriate opportunities arise.

Research and Convening

  • Monitor and analyse wider developments on digitalisation (e.g. within international development institutions, and international fora such as the G20 process) and their relevance for public finance and public financial management.
  • Oversee the Hub's working papers series, Budgets and Bytes blog series, and BudgetByte webinar series insight blogs, contributing to these as well as providing editorial direction for the contributions of others.
  • Lead the drafting of the Hub's new annual Emerging Themes Report.

Project Management

  • Take responsibility for the delivery and administrative and financial management of Hub's research, advisory and public affairs activities and outputs.
  • Monitor the delivery of the Hub's strategy and planned outputs.
  • Liaise with and report to existing funders, oversee budgets and manage inputs from other ODI researchers, partners, associates and collaborators.

Policy Advice, Public Affairs, and Dissemination

  • Work with the Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) staff at ODI to make continuous improvements to the Hub's dissemination strategies.
  • Lead on the planning and organisation of the Hub's annual conference/events.
  • Organise, moderate or speak at public events, including webinars and conferences
  • Disseminate the results of research through peer reviewed channels, the media (including appropriate social media)

About You

Posts representing the initial appointment as Research Fellow, require:

  • Substantial research or equivalent experience, a proven track record of publications and public affairs, and clear evidence of successful development, management and funding of a number of projects brought to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Experience in policy-oriented research, demonstrated by a track record of publications, reports and policy engagement.
  • Extensive low and middle income countries experience.
