Have you previously provided guidance and support to families? Due to the integral work of our therapy team here at Portfield School we have an incredible opportunity for a Family Support Co-ordinator to join the team on a part time basis working 52 weeks a year, two days a week.

The role will play a pivotal part in helping families navigate through their child's school life.

A day in the life of a Family Support Coordinator would include:

Working with families in their own homes to address any concerns regarding life at home, to ensure the same approaches used by school are used effectively at home.Promoting any relevant groups, social clubs, respite services, holiday clubs etcAssisting parents/carers to complete any application for support such as DLA applications, CAMHS referrals, housing modification grants.Signposting external agencies including local authorities or crisis centres that could be needed for domestic violence support, bereavement services etc.Accompanying parents to appointments related to the child and act as an advocate – eg. Doctors, hospital, especially if English is the second language to the parents.Supporting foster parents with any school activities and help promote a positive relationship between the two.Guiding parents/carers to understand school policies, procedures, interventions and programmes. ​
