JOB PROFILE DESCRIPTION MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE BUSINESS:
SENIOR COMMERCIAL MANAGER – SOLICITOR
As a Senior Commercial Manager -Solicitor at Kainos, you will work as part of a leading, commercially focused in-house legal team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Act as trusted business advisor and partner, building strong trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively to effectively support business priorities.
- Providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice, maintaining a broad business acumen focus.
- Lead strategic meetings with Business stakeholder, ensuring a clear understanding of strategic targets and priorities and support delivery of the revenue targets.
- Lead on commercialisation and implementation of new offerings.
- Take ownership for drafting, review and negotiation of strategic and complex contracts.
- Support Global Head of Commercial on team and workload management.
- Lead on strategic and non-legal projects with commercial focus or value add aspect.
- Undertaking risk analysis of proposed commercial ventures.
- Ensuring pragmatic company compliance with legal developments and new areas of law.
- Managing and supervising more junior members of the team (as required).
- Provide upskilling and QA of work of wider Commercial team.
- Assisting Global Head of Commercial, General Counsel and CFO as required.
MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualified Solicitor with significant post qualification experience in a legal/advisory role.
- Demonstrable experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating general commercial contracts.

- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability of building strong trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A forward-thinking professional with the ability to act as a trusted business advisor to add value, manage risk and drive business success.
- Excellent commercial awareness.
- Ability to foster good working relationships and deal with a fast moving and constantly changing working environment.
- Excellent team player with the ability to work independently and proactively.
- Ability to actively participate in knowledge sharing and training activities, both within the team and at a wider business level.
- Articulate, analytical, pragmatic, and credible.
- Excellent time management, organisational and planning skills.
- We are passionate about developing people – a demonstrated ability in managing, mentoring and coaching members of your team and wider community is important.
DESIRABLE:
- Familiarity within some or all the following areas of law: IP law, data protection, and procurement law.
- Previous experience working in a business or in-house environment.
