The Design System acts as the core for providing a smooth and cohesive experience for our Merchants using all of SumUp's top-notch products and services.

By becoming a part of our newly established Design System Team, you will assist the entire organization in crafting outstanding experiences for both merchants and customers.

You will be a member of a centralized design team that shapes the overall visual identity of SumUp while ensuring design excellence across all aspects of the user interface, including illustrations, motion, UX content, and accessibility.

  • Drive the evolution of SumUp's Design System to elevate the existing component library for mobile and web platforms
  • Create UI components and UX patterns with meticulous attention to detail, taking into account various scenarios and incorporating the latest OS advancements and trends
  • Engage proactively with designers throughout the company to gather feedback and enhance the experience across diverse touchpoints and platforms
  • Assist multi-disciplinary teams in implementing the design system
  • Promote the adoption of the Design System within the organization and maintain thorough documentation to facilitate its usage

You will collaborate with seasoned design leaders to refine the user experience, utilizing your full range of interaction, visual, and prototyping skills to capture the desired direction in a system of reusable UI components and interaction patterns.

  • Collaborate with our brand specialists for icon and illustration resources
  • Work with motion and content experts to establish comprehensive guidelines for enhancing the quality and consistency of our experience
  • Partner with design system engineers to deploy the Design System in a scalable manner, upholding our commitment to accessibility

Your Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer with a strong background in visual principles and systems design, proven expertise in UX showcased through portfolios or case studies
  • Track record of designing and implementing top-quality design components and UX patterns, dedicated to maintaining the highest standards and a unified vision
  • Notable advocate for UI consistency, proficient in collaborating with designers, engineers, product managers, and executives through various communication channels
  • Skilled in negotiating scalable, user-friendly solutions with teams, balancing communication, persuasion, and negotiation effectively
  • Ability to communicate decisions and directives clearly to different stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, adaptable to shifting priorities and requirements
  • BA or MA in Design or related fields, or equivalent studies and substantial work experience in product design
