Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

The University's Centre for Music Performance (CMP) is seeking a Performance Assistant (Classical) to join our dynamic and supportive team.

About the division/school

The CMP is an umbrella organisation which enables students of all subjects, backgrounds and levels of musical ability to make extracurricular music - in all its forms - a core part of life here, thereby enriching the holistic educational experience on offer at Cambridge. It is dedicated to strengthening further opportunities on offer for the university's most able performers, developing a new programme of entry level opportunities for musical beginners, and enhancing support for the thriving ecosystem of student-led music-making. While maintaining the university's core strengths in Western classical music, it is also extending support to a significantly wider range of musical genres.

The role:

As Performance Assistant (Classical), you will provide essential support towards the smooth running of our Western classical music programme, supporting ensembles, concerts, performance workshops, masterclasses and other projects. This position is an exciting opportunity for someone to gain experience in arts management, learning from industry professionals and working with guest artists. It will suit someone who enjoys a busy and demanding workload, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and has a passion for music-making. Please note that working hours will be flexible around delivering events and activity, including during evenings and weekends, for which Time Off in Lieu will be provided.

The role is available from 12th August 2024

About you:

Interested applicants for this post should be educated to GCSE level grades A-C or equivalent / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent level of practical experience and have excellent IT skills.

Your application should clearly set out how you meet the Person Profile criteria listed in the Further Particulars (see below) along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted based upon these criteria.

  • An auto-enrolment pension scheme, with a generous employer contribution
  • Travel benefits and retail discounts at over 2,000 local and national stores
  • Schemes to support with relocation / the provision of accommodation.
