About the Role


The role of the Student Relations Officer is a diverse and interesting one. Based across all six Schools at the stunning Printworks Campus, the post-holder will support students to achieve challenging attendance targets, their academic aims and their progression goals alongside engaging in enrichment activities which allow them to experience opportunities which add to their skills and prepare them for further study, Apprenticeships and careers.

The role demands a flexible, responsive approach so that the student experience is fresh, challenging and relevant. Typical duties associated with the role include meeting and greeting students, ensuring our high expectations for behaviour are upheld and acting as a key point of contact students, visitors and colleagues.

Working with students on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and in larger groups to support the delivery of key campaigns and initiatives is another key feature of the role.

Part year or part time hours may be considered, the salary stated will be pro rata. Please state on your application form what hours/days you are able to work.

What You Will Do

  • Work across Printworks Campus to ensure that students are welcomed in to a safe, friendly and supportive environment and to work with internal and external colleagues to support them to achieve their potential.
  • Develop effective professional relationships with students and the wider community to achieve buy in, participation and excellent levels of student satisfaction.
  • Tailor support to meet the needs of individual students in academic and pastoral environments and identify opportunities to share best practice across campus.

  • You will be student-focused, with a restorative approach and a commitment to providing a positive and supportive environment in which students can learn and develop,
  • You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve problems quickly and effectively, using reasoning and negotiation skills to defuse challenging situations should the need arise.
  • You will have the ability to work flexibly as part of a busy, diverse results-focused team and will enjoy achieving challenging targets and supporting others along the way.
  • In addition, you will contribute to the development and use of a range of monitoring and reporting tasks.
