Job Overview:

Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Technologist Team Lead in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Protection within the expanding Radiation Physics team here in Swansea.

Applicants should hold a degree in a physical science together with a postgraduate qualification in medical physics or equivalent level of knowledge. Candidates should also hold appropriate registration (e.g. RCT/AHCS Practitioner register/ HCPC Radiographer) or be eligible to apply for registration.

Applications are also invited from experienced Clinical Technologists that could achieve registration within 12 months of taking up the post. These applications will be managed under Annex 21 of A4C pay arrangements.

The team provide scientific support and expert advice in diagnostic radiology physics, radiation protection, radioactive waste management, and radiation emergency planning to Swansea Bay University Health Board and a number of other establishments throughout South-West Wales.

We are one of the major radiation physics service providers in NHS Wales and form part of a large, modern and well-integrated Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering. The Department has strong links with the adjacent Swansea University and offers accredited training for Clinical Scientists and Practitioners.

Main Duties Of The Job:

You will be responsible for the planning, organisation and delivery of technical aspects of our X-ray equipment quality assurance programme and radiation protection services for the Health Board and its external customers. You will act as the professional lead for the technical staff in the group, providing day-to-day management.

Due to the nature of our service delivery a willingness to travel between sites and therefore a current UK driving license would be essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
