About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Band 6 Charge Nurse/Sister to join our team at the Haematology Day Unit in Singleton Hospital. As a Clinical Lead, you will play a key role in the management of the unit, leading and developing the core nursing establishment to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision, and guidance to the nursing team.
  • Exercise 24-hour accountability for the management of the unit, including leading and developing the core nursing establishment.
  • Support the Unit Manager in the delivery of compassionate, high-quality, effective, patient-centered nursing care.
  • Provide fair, honest, and measured people management, including supervision and guidance.
  • Undertake management and monitoring activities in line with legal and professional requirements, statutory rules, and Health Board policies.
  • Be responsible for the efficient management of the unit budget, effectively deploying the nursing team and utilizing allocated resources.
  • Raise any financial expenditure concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (Part 1) - Active NMC Registration.
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant health-related subject (or equivalent experience).
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development/experience).
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children, including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Knowledge of quality and service improvement methodologies, Bronze IQT.
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of the NMC Code (2015).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Recognized management qualification.
  • Understanding of wider nursing and healthcare-related agenda.
  • Relevant clinical experience.
  • Experience of working in a multi-professional environment.
  • Experience of shift leadership.
  • Experience of working with preregistration nursing/midwifery students.
  • Experience of formal/informal teaching and mentoring preregistration nursing or midwifery students.
