The School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences encompasses the four departments of Psychology; Social Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry; Health Services & Population Research; and Biostatistics & Health Informatics. It includes more than 100 Principal Investigators, with research programmes spanning a range of areas from childhood to old age, from basic research through treatment development and implementation, and on to healthcare and society. It is home to many of the basic and evaluative sciences (e.g. psychology, health economics, statistics, informatics, genetics) that underpin research at the faculty; and expertise (psychology, service research and improvement science) that improves the impact of scientific breakthroughs at KCL and King's Health Partners. About the role

The School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHAPS) is seeking to appoint an Executive Assistant (EA) to the Head of Department in our Biostatistics and Health Informatics (BHI) department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious and experienced Executive Assistant with a sound understanding of the higher education landscape, providing support to key department staff such as Head of Department (HoD), Deputy Head of Department (dHoD) and the wider department.

The successful candidate will be capable of working autonomously and liaising directly with internal and external colleagues in an independent manner. The post holder will use their initiative, discretion, knowledge and experience to help plan, manage and coordinate the work of the department.

The post holder must be highly organised with a demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and work to deadlines. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail skillset, and should be flexible, proactive and strive for continuous improvement.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Demonstrable knowledge and skills of business operations acquired through previous roles/qualification.

2. Experience of providing high level administrative and/or personal support to a senior executive, using a range of IT software packages and databases.

3. Experience of complex and multiple diary management.

4. Experience of organising and supporting formal committees, meetings, events and taking minutes

5. Excellent communication skills, including excellent spoken and written English, in formal documents, letters, emails and other communications.

6. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, handle situations sensitively, exhibiting a high level of awareness and confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

7. Confident making independent decisions and knowing when to escalate.

8. Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and flexibly, managing, and prioritising own workload, working under pressure in a busy environment and meeting deadlines.

Desirable criteria

1. Experience of working in higher education sector and familiarity with HE administration.

2. Proven commitment to ongoing skills development.
