London, Greater London, United Kingdom West London NHS Trust Full time
Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker who has experience of or an interest in Forensic Social Work and working with Carers. This opportunity seeks to recruit an individual who will carry a part time case load on a pre discharge low secure service alongside part time role as the Carers lead for the wider Specialist Community Forensic Team.

West London Forensic Service, as part of West London Health Trust, is responsible for the in-patient treatment of adults detained under the Mental Health Act, who require medium or low secure levels of security in order to protect others and themselves. This includes providing a Social Work Service to the those detained in conditions of low and medium security.

We have been chosen by NHS England to pioneer a new approach to support forensic service users in the community. The Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT) will work to transition service users out of secure settings, and support their ongoing recovery in the community. This can improve quality of life, reduce inequality, and give hope to people who may have been detained for many years.

Whilst it is desirable for candidates to have experience working within forensic and mental health settings, applications will be equally considered from qualified and experienced Social Workers working in other areas, as long as they can demonstrate strong transferability of skills.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for applicants for a Forensic Social Worker / Carers Lead committed to working collaboratively with individuals, carers and providers in the community to find positive and safe ways of working with people who use these services.

You will work as part of the ground-breaking new team that will improve the lives of forensic mental health service users and their carers. This is a rare chance to be part of shaping a new service, providing opportunities to develop your skills and your career.

The applicant must have a qualification in Social work and Social Work England Registration.

At WLNHST we don't just accept difference we actively celebrate it and support it for the benefit of our staff, our patients and our community. We are proud to be part of an equal opportunity work place.
