This new full-time post is available from 1 September 2024 until 29 August 2025 on a fixed term basis.

The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Professor Austin Smith. This European Research Council funded post is available from 1 September 2024. The successful applicant will support a programme of cellular and molecular research in pluripotent stem cell biology.

The post will include stem cell culture, basic molecular biology, immunostaining, flow cytometry, and immunoblotting.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to culture mammalian cells, perform cell culture experiments and downstream analyses such as gene expression measurement and flow cytometry, record and present experimental data clearly and accurately, interpret results.

The starting salary will be from £32,332 to £38,205 on Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience.
