About the Role

The University of Exeter is seeking a highly motivated and organized Research Assistant to support the delivery of a randomised controlled trial to test the effectiveness of a new treatment for depression called Mindfulness for Adolescents and Carers (MAC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the successful running of a multisite hybrid clinical and cost-effectiveness randomised controlled trial called ATTEND, under the direction of the Site Lead Rachel Hayes, and the Trial Manager.
  • Assist with intervention delivery, data entry and management, and liaison with the wider study team including collaborators at the University of Exeter and several other universities and NHS trusts.
  • Present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically, and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Requirements

  • Education to first degree level or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated person with an interest in working with young people with mental health difficulties and in developing and evaluating new psychological interventions.
  • Highly organized with excellent communication and engagement skills, able to work well with others and independently, show initiative when faced with challenges, and have good problem-solving skills.
