Pricing Analyst (Underwriting) – Victor/Marsh - London

The role: Pricing Analyst

Within an exciting, dynamic and fast passed Digital and Data analytics team, the Pricing Analyst will work closely with our underwriting class owners and our Data Analytics team to build out and maintain our pricing monitoring tools. Support the identification and understanding of trends within the pricing arena. Provide data lead insights into potential threats, opportunities and areas for improvement. Also identify and implement solutions and make recommendations to mitigate or maximize the areas identified.

This could suit either an experienced Analyst with a background manipulating large data sets or a possible Graduate with advanced excel and an analytical based degree looking to get into an analytical career

We will rely on you to:

  • Work closely with the business in all respects product pricing and underwriting performance analysis, from design to implementation including scoping and specification, taking ownership of delivery.
  • Provide technical pricing knowledge and insight across the various insurance products.
  • Become a focal point and subject matter expert for our digital pricing models.
  • Provide solutions to improve efficiencies for issues identified within product pricing or underwriting performance.
  • Drive continual improvement to support efficient and effective pricing and underwriting performance.
  • Ensuring business objectives, quality standards and regulatory standards are maintained.
  • Assemble, monitor and lead a project team as required
  • Work with the business to identify, manage and resolve product or process defects and support in achieving the required level of operational effectiveness.
  • Extraction, analysis and presentation of data relating to product, system, user and customer behaviours.

What you need to have:

  • Strong analytical skills and comfortable managing large data sets.
  • Strong MS Excel knowledge and experience.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex scenarios clearly too all levels of understanding.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective, long-term relationships.
  • Work well under pressure and ability to adapt and remain flexible in approach.
  • Thorough organisational skills with effective prioritisation of workloads.

What makes you stand out:

  • Degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics or related field. Or working towards.
  • Strong understanding of the Acturis platform, products and associated operating model.
  • Strong experience of pricing digitally trading insurance products
  • Awareness of e-trade insurance products, systems and processes.
  • A strong understanding of underwriting practices.
  • Good general knowledge statistical tools such as PowerBI, Qlick, R etc
  • Experience of working within a Regulated FCA environment.
  • Have an awareness of areas such as the Insurance Act, Data Protection Act, GDPR, Money Laundering, Client Monies, ICOBS, TCF, FOS and T&C Frameworks and their impact for business/processes.
