Job Description SummaryAt the Power Distribution and Controls Centre of Excellence based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, we design & develop systems for aircraft power distribution and controls. You will take a lead role within a dynamic team designing and developing power distribution and controls products for our Power Distribution and Controls Business within GE Aviation.

As a Lead Engineer in GE you will be encouraged and supported to continue developing both your technical and leadership skills.Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Development of electronic/electrical hardware through the whole product lifecycle in line with aerospace standard D0-254/ ARP4754A (design, verification, and qualification to support product certification)
  • Solving of complex hardware engineering problems
  • Produce documentation to support hardware design & certification solutions
  • Hardware requirements management with traceability to design and test
  • Hardware Qualification Management in line with aerospace standard DO-160

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electronic/electrical from an accredited university/college or equivalent qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Experience in development of HW electrical/electronic product in a safety critical environment (ideally gained in aerospace)
  • Knowledge of product design and development activities including exposure to design for manufacture and test-methodologies
  • Experience of working in a team environment delivering products to cost and schedule
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Characteristics

  • An understanding of regulatory and safety requirements for safety critical products (ideally gained in aerospace industry)
  • Knowledge of Electrical Wiring Installation System (EWIS) regulatory.
  • A working knowledge of software and systems design
  • Ability to understand and be involved in all phases of the product development life cycle
  • You will be expected to play an active part in the design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture and beyond
  • Willing to participate in military product design
