Provides technical support to the project construction team principally relating to the primary & secondary control, dimensional verification and quality control/quality assurance activities relating to structural trades and could also extend to trades that interface with the structure, or equally across the project. Ensures scope of works are quality controlled ensuring quality controls are implemented and communicated. Ensures Mace validation checks are carried out in conjunction with trade contractor's specific checks and implement the Mace temporary works procedure and safety procedures.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Provides Electrical engineering support and expertise to the site engineers.
  • Manages project wide dimensional control for main contractor and trade contractor works.
  • Interprets as-built surveys/installations are checked prior to construction of follow-on activities.
  • Acts as a TWS and Deputy TWC (dependant on individual competency) as stipulated in Mace TW procedure.
  • Reviews design information and liaise with designers or trade contractors to resolve queries.
  • Manages trade contractors to ensure that ITPs are complied with and verification records are in place.
  • Carries out defined inspections to allow Mace verification of the works.
  • Develops effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Seeks opportunities for continuous improvements/improving working processes.
  • Responsibility for Site Engineers activities.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

  • Check and approve subcontractor drawings and information.
  • Interrogate design information and determine if there are sufficient details to construct the works.
  • Implement company standard procedures / technical information.
  • Temporary works and HSE.
  • Ability to carry out concept design of temporary works. Produce detailed design briefs for low-risk Principal Contractor works.
  • Review temporary works designs prepared by others and provide feedback.
  • Check /approve method statements and risk assessments.
  • Ensure site operations are controlled and delivered in accordance with the approved SSOW.
  • Dimensional Control.
  • Review how achievable, suitable and compatible the specified tolerances are & get amended as required.
  • Review proposed construction methods to ensure compliance with specified or stated tolerances.
  • Be able to use, check & manage the survey equipment.
  • Monitor the surveying/setting out practice of subcontractors.
  • Provide advice and assistance in resolution of survey and dimensional control issues.
  • Ensure that as-built surveys are completed.
  • Quality Management.
  • Review ITPs to ensure they correctly interpret specified quality requirements (assisting Senior Project Engineer).
  • Ensure that ITPs are in place for all construction activities.
  • Ensure that quality control checks are undertaken.
  • Ensure correct materials, products, plant and systems are used/installed.
  • Apply company and external technical information to help achieve the specified quality requirements.
  • Experience of delivering engineering activities across a range of projects.
  • Experienced in the management of Temporary Works and able to carry out TWS role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Highly accurate with good attention to detail.
  • Builds & maintains strong relationships with wider project team.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work unsupervised on works and simple structural alterations.
  • Experience of delivering engineering activities across a range of projects of with a clear demonstration of independent thought and initiative.

You'll also have:

  • Experience working on Network Rail projects.
  • Strong Electrical Engineering background.
  • Review the effectiveness of materials, plant and methods being used on site.
  • Utilise 3D modelling to demonstrate methods, clarify issues and resolve method related problems.
  • Check dimensional design data and raise RFI's/technical queries.
  • Quality Management.
  • Ensure that quality samples/benchmarks are in place & approved, and that these are met on site.
  • Knowledge/experience in the use of quality management tools (for example BIM 360 Field, Field View, etc.).
  • Degree qualified
  • Professionally qualified with the Institution of civil Engineers, Institution of Structural engineers or similar professional body.
  • Promotes lessons learnt & quality improvements
  • Ability to mentor & develop junior engineers both technically and professionally.
  • Ability to take on package management responsibilities for structural packages where required.
  • Ability to chair effective meetings, Good Time management skills. Proven team player. Highly motivated and energetic.
