Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial risk and control subject matter expertise to the business.
  • Support the delivery of the annual 2nd line assurance plan.
  • Assist in driving the risk and controls maturity programme.
  • Help develop a strong risk management culture within the organisation.
  • Support the development and implementation of a robust risk and controls framework.
  • Conduct detailed controls testing and process reviews.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and challenge to the business regarding their risks, controls, and processes.
  • Facilitate risk-based discussions to identify, assess, record, and manage risks and controls.
  • Assist in the identification of key risk indicators and support the investigation of any deviations.
  • Perform regular risk assessments and horizon scanning.
  • Review risk and control matrices.
  • Provide risk and controls training for the business.
  • Conduct annual cycles of design and operational effectiveness testing of financial controls.
  • Support the remediation of control weaknesses and non-compliances.
  • Identify compliance weaknesses and propose remedial actions.
  • Interface with external auditors to ensure adherence to audit requirements.
  • Lead change initiatives within the Risk and Controls team and wider Finance function.
  • Provide project support as needed.
  • Lead and drive business critical assessments and analysis.
  • Support the review of internal policies.
  • Maintain documentation repositories and infonet sites.
  • Provide regular updates and value-added MI to the Finance leadership team.
Skills:

  • Strong understanding of finance processes, risks, and financial controls.
  • Accounting/financial scoping and auditing experience.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Experience with compliance against International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Experience with regulatory or operational risk, or internal risk and control frameworks.
  • Knowledge of US SOx principles (not directly related to the role).
  • Ability to critically assess and map business processes, risk, and controls.
  • Proficient in using business systems and analytical tools (Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of SAP and other financial systems.
  • Proactive self-starter with excellent time management skills.
Qualifications:

  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., CISA, IIA-QiCA, CIMA, ACCA, ICM, CPIM, or CPM), or equivalent experience.

As a Risk and Controls Specialist, you will have the opportunity to support the delivery of the annual 2nd line assurance plan and drive the risk and controls maturity programme.

Your role will involve assisting the business in developing a strong risk management culture and implementing a robust risk and controls framework.


In this role, you will conduct detailed controls testing, provide guidance to the business on risks, controls, and processes, and facilitate risk-based discussions.

You will also conduct regular risk assessments, review risk and control matrices, and provide risk and controls training. Additionally, you will lead change initiatives within the Risk and Controls team and provide project support.

To excel in this role, you should have a strong understanding of finance processes, risks, and financial controls. Additionally, experience with compliance, risk management, and proficiency in analytical tools will be beneficial. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential.

This is a 6-month temporary position.
