The opportunity:

The pace of change in insurance means we're looking for a Claims Handler to join the Zurich Municipal Casualty claims team in Newcastle.

Working in Zurich Municipals claims department, you will be responsible for handling and resolving a full portfolio of casualty claims by investigating, negotiating and finalising claims in line with governance guidelines and your authority limits. You'll work within a supportive team with lots of opportunity to develop.

What will you be doing?

As a Claims Handler you will be dealing with dealing directly with customers such as local authorities and housing associations, as well as claimants and solicitors, delivering a high-quality claims service, so you will need excellent communication skills.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Review and respond to claim enquiries, handling and negotiating claims in a proactive manner within authority limits
  • Compliance to statutory regulations
  • Maximise productivity and profitability within the team
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture

Who are we looking for?

  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service through strong relationship management and effective negotiation skills
  • An inquisitive nature that will enable you to ask questions and reach accurate decisions
  • Strong IT and communication skills
  • Insurance Claims experience is preferrable, but we will consider applications from other customer centric backgrounds
  • Experience of working within a team with good case management and workload management skills
  • Ability to coach, motivate and develop where appropriate.
