Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

We are looking for a Maintenance Planner at Oxford University, who will be the driving force powering the seamless operation and upkeep of our University's buildings and spaces.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, organising, and managing both planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities across our diverse estate, which includes everything from historic Grade 1 listed buildings to cutting-edge science research facilities.

This isn't just a job; it's your chance to be part of something bigger. You'll be the behind-the-scenes hero, ensuring that the environments where ground-breaking discoveries and ideas happen are always ready for action. Imagine knowing that the systems you maintain are the ones powering world-class research and learning. You'll be the person who makes sure that whether it's a Grade 1 listed building or a state-of-the-art science lab, everything runs like clockwork.

More About the Role:

As a Maintenance Planner, you will work closely with Senior Engineers, department managers, contractors and other University support services to ensure the efficient and compliant operation of our Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems. You will develop and manage maintenance strategies that ensure every part of our diverse estate performs at its best.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer maintenance contracts and specifications.
  • Lead tender processes and collaborate with purchasing and legal services.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to SLAs and KPIs.
  • Work closely with the Estates Compliance team and the Safety Office to maintain safety standards.
  • Enhance our Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system to optimize maintenance workflows.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to minimise disruption during maintenance activities.

About You:

You are a strategic thinker with experience in contractor administration and maintenance planning. However, we are looking for someone who is not just experienced but also excited by the challenge of maintaining a truly unique and varied estate. You have strong planning and organisational skills, and you are proactive, able to manage your workload efficiently.

With a deep knowledge of maintenance practices, building systems, and procedures, you are passionate about safety and efficiency, ready to ensure our spaces function at their best.
