Scope of the post

As the Business Development Manager, you'll identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow. You will have to be a strategic leader with excellent communication skills and strong commercial acumen and are able to spot opportunities and provide tangible solutions to generate profitable sales.


Key Accountabilities Responsibilities:

• Managing, coaching, and leading the Business Development Team.

• Developing and strengthening existing customer relationships and creating new engagements which enables the organisation to expand its market reach.

• Establish strong relationships with key accounts through demonstration of excellent service and support, and commercial and technical competence.

• Provide excellent market, customer and competitor information to the senior leadership team and provide strategies for growing and building the business profitably, in line with the company goals.

• Producing key management reports and key performance indicators

• Regular KPI monitoring and ensuring that targets are met.

• Be able to sell and advise on all the organisation's services.

• Preparing and delivering presentations and produce marketing material with external partners and other service providers.

• Travelling and attending networking events, seminars, and conferences – virtually and in person

• Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives to develop and improve the business.

• Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes.

• Ability to provide consultancy and VAT advisory services to the highest standard.

• Able to take full management responsibility for a portfolio of clients expanding over the UK and the rest of Europe.

• Identifying cross-selling opportunities across the business

• Competitor analysis

• Train members of your team, arranging internal/external training where appropriate.

• Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world and communicate to the team.

• Maintaining own knowledge and skills for continuous self-development


Person Specification: Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Educated to Degree level

• Possess a high level of market knowledge.

• A background in direct sales and customer service

• Confident, professional, and friendly so customer relationships are of the highest quality.

• Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets

• Interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships with clients

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills - needed for communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as presentation skills

• Excellent IT skills

• Teamworking skills and a collaborative approach to work

• A strong decision maker

• The ability to multitask and prioritise your workload

• Project management and organisational skills

• The ability to positively fluence and team members

• Negotiating skills

• The ability to analyse sales figures and write reports

• A flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment • Strong commercial acumen

• Patience and emotional resilience for dealing with customers.

• Actively listen to customers then smoothly handle & overcome any objections.

Desirable

• Experience in customs clearance, international trade and freight

• Our customers source and ship inventory from around the world so an understanding of customs would be advantageous
