Our client, a leading Civil Engineering Contractor, is currently seeking experienced Setting Out Engineers for a number of exciting new projects, located throughout Scotland. Locations include Inverness, Caithness, Keith & Dundee.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Establishing reference points, control stations, and survey benchmarks on the construction site for accurate measurements and alignment throughout the project.
Conducting site surveys, including topographic surveys and geotechnical investigations, and providing accurate quantities/volumes where appropriate.
Reviewing and interpreting design plans, including architectural, structural, and engineering drawings, to understand the layout and dimensions of the project.
Setting up and utilisation of GPS & machine control equipment. Please note this does not negate the usage of profiles or other appropriate setting out techniques.
Setting out key elements of the construction project on the ground, such as foundations, columns, walls, road alignments, and utilities, using surveying tools and techniques to ensure precise positioning in accordance with project specifications and design.
Providing technical support to the site manager and other site personnel
Coordinating with the project manager and other senior site personnel to report progress, identify problems, and propose solutions.
Manage, supervise, monitor, and report on progress on the construction site, including identifying and resolving technical problems and issues.
Ensuring that all work on the site is completed in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Conducting quality control checks to ensure that work meets project specifications and standards.
Operating and calibrating surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, laser levels, and digital measuring devices, to capture and record accurate site measurements.
Managing the site material and plant and ensuring that all supplies are ordered and delivered on time.
Preparing project reports and other documentation to keep stakeholders informed of progress.
Providing technical guidance and support to subcontractors and other personnel.
Developing and implementing quality control processes to ensure that work meets project specifications and standards.
Conducting as-built surveys and measurements to record the final position and dimensions of constructed elements, enabling accurate documentation and future reference.
Maintaining accurate records of work completed on the site, such as QA records and other important compliance and handover documentation.
Ensuring that all site personnel are trained and compliant with relevant health and safety regulations.
Attending in-house meetings for the project and carrying out daily briefings to the workforce as and when necessary.
Assist site manager in the compiling and implementation of programmes and 4WLAH plans for the project and monitor progress to these plans.
Assist with the drafting and implementation of RAMS for the site works as appropriate.
Collaborating with project teams to estimate quantities of materials required for construction activities, such as concrete, steel, and earthwork, based on the setting out data.
Coordinating with project managers, engineers, architects, design teams and subcontractors, to ensure alignment and understanding of project requirements and specifications.
Identifying and resolving issues related to setting out, surveying, and alignment through collaboration with project teams and proposing appropriate solutions.
Adhering to health and safety regulations, guidelines, and best practices while working on the construction site to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
Staying updated with advancements in surveying technology, equipment, and techniques to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity in setting out operations.
*Ideally, applicants will have previous Sub Station Experience with CAT 1-3 / Tier 1 Contracting Experience*
