DSP Software Engineer | Semiconductor Company | Audio Codec


A leading multinational semiconductor company is currently hiring a Principal DSP Software Engineer in Edinburgh, Scotland.


A global leader in microcontrollers, analog, power and SoC products, this is a great opportunity for a principal-level software engineer.


Key responsibilities:

  • Work on design, development, integration, evaluation and verification of DSP audio filters and algorithms.
  • Design, development, integration, and verification of DSP embedded solutions.
  • High-quality design and code delivered within agreed timescales.
  • High-quality tests delivered within agreed timescales.
  • Customer acceptance of Renesas solutions with proven and measurable compliance to specifications.
  • Ability to drive, regulate, and prioritize activities to ensure timescales and goals are met.
  • High-quality technical documentation is complete and maintained.
  • Reduction in code maintenance
  • Increase in code reuse


Key Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of DSP, MCU, IC, and audio codec architectures.
  • Excellent knowledge of embedded architectures and real-time embedded software.
  • Fluent in real-time embedded C/C++ programming with in-depth knowledge of DSP algorithm development.
  • Good debugging skills.
  • Good competency in Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Report bugs using issue-tracking tools such as JIRA.


Desirable Experience:

  • Good knowledge and experience in audio, digital filtering, and portable audio applications such as headphones and wireless earbuds.
  • Good experience in optimizing DSP solutions for low footprint, low latency, and low power applications.
  • Previous team leading or technical leading experience.
  • Familiarity with CI tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience using SystemC
