I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading Pharma and Supply Chain company in Surrey for an Azure Data Engineer to join them on a contractual basis.

We are looking to engage with a Data Engineer with experience using Azure Data Factory and DataBricks with a solid understanding of SQL queries for retrieving and manipulating data from relational databases.

You will be working with Data Engineers, Visualisation Engineers and Data Architects as part of a team to deliver and enabling organizations to make data-driven decisions by ensuring that data is collected, processed, and stored effectively and efficiently.

6 month contract initially with a view to extend. The organisation is located in Chessington, Surrey, they offer hybrid working, they would like you onsite once a week and WFH remainder of the week


Key Responsibilities

Translate business needs to technical solutions

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the delivered solutions meet their needs.
  2. Work with solution architects to break down and estimate packages of work and contribute to design documents and review process

Manage the delivery and evolution of data models

  1. Work with 3rd party developers and other remote internal development teams to deliver robust solutions for data visualisations as agreed through intake process
  2. Be the technical interface between data engineers, project management and the business in the delivery of projects and incremental change

Deliver a suite of data models

  1. Building robust data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into data storage systems.
  2. Cleaning, aggregating, and structuring raw data into a usable format for analysis.
  3. Developing data models to support data analysis and business intelligence needs.


Deliver the service for the business

  1. Assure appropriate processes and metrics are in place to run the platforms and solutions as part of a business-as-usual service. This will require working with other teams across the business who may provide platforms and other elements of the service
  2. Troubleshoot issues related to data quality, report accuracy, or system performance.


We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:

  • A university degree or equivalent IT experience
  • Experience using Azure Data Factory (5 years)
  • Experience using DataBricks (5 years)
  • Solid understanding of SQL queries for retrieving and manipulating data from relational databases.
  • Python experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and experience with Azure DevOps or JIRA
  • Solid understanding of database design principles and data modelling.
  • Experience with modern dashboarding platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik would be advantageous
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Positive proactive attitude, willing to turn their hand to any problem, and willing to work things out when they fall outside their area of direct expertise.
