About the role:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant with expertise in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), particularly non-verbal learners, for a full-time, long-term role that is crucial to our commitment to providing exceptional support.
This position has become available due to the previous post holder’s retirement, and we are excited to welcome a new team member who can bring fresh ideas and energy to our SEN department.
In this role, you will work closely with students who need additional support to engage with the curriculum and achieve their educational goals, all while being part of a supportive team. You will primarily assist a small group of students with ASD in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with manageable class sizes that allow for personalised attention and effective support.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly non-verbal learners.
• A thorough understanding of various strategies to support non-verbal communication and learning..
• Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or a related field. (desirable)
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-on-one support to students with ASD, ensuring their individual needs are met.
• Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans.
• Facilitate communication and interaction between students and their peers.
• Support the teacher in creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
