Pay: £85-£100 per day
Location: Finchley
Job Type: Full Time, Long Term
About the school:
Nestled in the vibrant Finchley community, this primary school is a welcoming haven for students of all abilities. The school is well-resourced, with an impressive array of tools and learning aids that foster an engaging, supportive environment for children with ASD. In addition to a warm team of experienced, empathetic staff, the school offers the support of a multidisciplinary therapy team on-site, including speech, occupational, and physical therapists. With a whole-child approach, the school is committed to encouraging each learner’s development at their own pace.
Classroom learning here is enriched with regular, carefully designed excursions and community activities that bring education to life. These excursions offer students the chance to engage with the world around them in fun and meaningful ways, and the progress students make outside the classroom is integrated back into their daily learning goals.
About the role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in ASD, you’ll be a key support for Key Stage 1 and 2 students, adapting learning materials and providing hands-on support to enhance their individual progress. You’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to create an environment where each child can thrive, whether it’s through personalised learning strategies, calming sensory activities, or interactive play-based learning. Your creativity, patience, and understanding will be essential in helping students build confidence and accomplish personal milestones.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• A patient, positive, and empathetic approach.
• Teamwork skills to collaborate with staff and therapists.
• Relevant qualifications in SEN or willingness to complete training.
• A genuine passion for fostering each child’s growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting ASD students with individualised education plans.
• Implementing and adapting established learning and sensory activities.
• Helping learners develop social, communication, and life skills.
• Engaging with the therapy team to implement specialist recommendations.
• Celebrating achievements and milestones, big and small.
Perks and Benefits:
In addition to the reward of seeing learners succeed, you’ll enjoy a competitive daily rate, ongoing professional development, and a chance to be part of a supportive community that values teamwork and care. The school regularly organises workshops and training sessions to equip staff with the latest SEN strategies, so you’ll be part of a community that truly invests in its educators and assistants.
