Your Opportunity: We are looking for passionate and committed individuals to join the Board of Trustees as Trustees. As a Trustee, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction, governance, and impact of Avalon Group. Key Responsibilities:

  • Board Engagement: Attend quarterly Board meetings to contribute to discussions and decision-making processes related to governance, strategy, and performance.
  • Service Visits: Conduct annual service visits to Avalon Group's locations to gain insight into our operations, meet service users and staff, and provide feedback to the Board.
  • Avalink Sessions: Contribute to Avalink sessions when available, sharing your insights, expertise, and ideas on key issues facing Avalon Group.
  • Governance Support: Support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities, including reviewing policies, financial reports, and strategic plans, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders including service users, staff, donors, and partners to understand their perspectives and represent their interests in Board discussions.
  • Committee Participation: Serve on Board committees or working groups as needed, providing input and expertise on specific areas such as finance, fundraising, or quality assurance.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Commitment to Avalon Group's mission, values, and the empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • Availability to attend quarterly Board meetings, annual service visits, and contribute to Avalink sessions as available (approximately 4-6 hours per month).
  • Previous experience in governance, finance, fundraising, social care, or disability rights advocacy is desirable but not essential.
