We are looking for a strategic and commercially minded HR professional with a passion for delivery to join our People Partnering Team in the role of Senior People Partner – Head Office Functions, Transport, Strategy & Optimisation on a 12 month FTC.

Salary: £85,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday

Working pattern: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

What you’ll do:

  • You will work alongside other Senior People Partners to drive consistency, clarity and process alignment across our operational & Head office divisions, supporting an aligned Employee Value Proposition
  • You will lead discussions with our Centres of Expertise, to ensure centrally created solutions are fit for purpose for your Operational Stakeholders, aiding understanding of our workforce demographics and supporting agile and fit for purpose solutions to be developed and executed
  • Not only will you play a vital role in business partnering our Head office SLT (IT, Finance, HR, H&S) you will business partner our Transport Director and Strategy Director, supported by your HR team, evolving our service offer to support our end to end employee lifecycle
  • Translate our functional People Strategy into People Plans for the business units and functions and interface the relationship between HR and the business. Work alongside our Transport Director, Strategy Director and Head Office functional directors to ensure we have an aligned people plan, ensuring consistency in approach aligned to best practice execution is achieved
  • As a key member of our Operational People team, you will work closely with your functional and regional leaders on how best to land and evolve key people initiatives including engagement, organisation design, TUPE, organisation effectiveness, performance management and employee development
  • Ensure that for any projects or initiatives that may impact collective agreements across people partnering, that the necessary engagement is undertaken via the appropriate Senior People Partner to support our partnership approach
  • Lead the development of an effective workforce strategy to unlock capability and capacity barriers across our functional areas
  • Contribute to the development of the overall People, Safety & Culture priorities, being responsible for developing a best-in-class People Partnering Service – aligning with other Senior People Partners to gain consistency in our approach, whilst enabling capability to be built across Operational & HR teams
  • Lead and own the Capability, Succession and Talent Review process, aligned to Gist Policy for your functional areas. Ensuring we have clarity over critical roles, succession plans, high potential colleagues and how to identify unacceptable performance

  • A solid track record working closely with senior leaders, providing objective advice, challenging thinking, and influencing key people-related decisions
  • Ability to manage sometimes-conflicting priorities of various leadership teams and initiatives while applying judgement to produce exceptional results that drive our business forward
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity, a patient individual with the ability to influence others on longer term thinking/planning that doesn’t necessarily have impact tomorrow, but delivers the right end result
  • History of working within a busy and pressurised environment
  • Experience in a role with strong customer focus and service levels
  • Knowledge of HR policies and legislation
  • Experience of working for a large commercial operational organisation
