About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance Business Partnering and Reporting team at SNG Formerly Sovereign Housing Association. As a Senior Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner in delivering timely, accurate, and comprehensive internal financial management accounts to senior management teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Support the Senior Finance Business Partner in ensuring the team delivers robust analysis and commentary explaining monthly performance variances against budgets and forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities, and supporting business decision-making.
  • Business Partnering: Identify, implement, and share proactive ways to improve business partnering for Customer and Communities teams, taking the lead in driving projects and initiatives through to completion with support from the rest of the team.
  • Forecasting: Continually improve forecasting by providing high-quality insight and pattern analysis to budget holders, recommending areas that need focus and ways to improve.
  • Period End Procedures: Take the lead in managing period-end procedures to support timely and accurate delivery of monthly management reporting, including variance analysis, follow-up, and detailed commentary.
  • Budget and Forecasting Process: Take responsibility for the budget and forecasting process, using your experience to support budget holders and knowing when to encourage, when to instruct, and when to push back.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver robust analysis of actuals to ensure accurate accounting, understanding, and analysis with recommendations for senior management.
  • Presentations: Present financial reports to senior management teams and key stakeholders, being able to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial colleagues.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in a similar senior management accounting role, ideally within a large or complex organization.
  • Experience: Previous experience working for a Housing Association would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Skills: Strong, clear working knowledge of processes and controls surrounding budgeting, forecasting, and management account preparation, including detailed report writing and analysis.
  • Communication: Effective communicator with the ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Presentation: Experience in presenting financial reports, data, and insights clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Advisory: Ability to advise and influence key stakeholders of all levels in the business.
  • Challenge: Proactively challenge, introducing new ideas to drive the progressive development of the business.
  • Numeracy: Highly numerate with strong IT skills, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Deadlines: Work well to deadlines, prioritizing workloads effectively.
  • Analysis: Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs, demonstrating a logical approach to your work.
