We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in either our Bristol or Cardiff office.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership: Lead projects and represent the company in Design Team Meetings, ensuring the highest standards of professional conduct.
* Team Management: Manage and oversee work undertaken by less experienced staff, providing mentorship and guidance.
* Costing and Quoting: Develop cost estimates and quotations for professional services.
* Foundation Design: Competently design foundations considering Ultimate Limit State (ULS) and Serviceability Limit State (SLS) principles.
* Ground Improvement: Assess and specify ground improvement techniques.
* Earthworks Design: Design earthworks and assess settlement and slopes using specialist analytical geotechnical software.
* Soil Retaining Structures: Design soil retaining structures and ground reinforcement systems.
* Technical Documentation: Prepare technically accurate interpretive Geotechnical Investigation Reports (GIRs), Geotechnical Design Reports (GDRs), and Geotechnical Feasibility Reports (GFRs).
* Presentation: Ensure the presentation of work is of the highest standards.
* Commercial Judgment: Apply sound commercial and contractual judgment to all aspects of your work.
What You’ll Bring:
* Experience: A minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience within the ground engineering sector.
* Project Leadership: Proven experience in leading projects and representing your company in Design Team Meetings.
* Mentorship: Ability to manage and check the work of less experienced staff.
* Technical Skills: Competence in the design of foundations, ground improvement, earthworks, settlement assessment, slope stability, and soil retaining structures.
* Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using specialist geotechnical analytical software.
* Documentation: Experience in preparing technically accurate interpretive reports (GIRs, GDRs, GFRs).
* Commercial Acumen: Sound commercial and contractual judgment.
